NBC's 'Parenthood' & CW's 'OTH', 'LUX' Down In Season Premieres

The trend of returning series debuting lower this season that started with CW's America's Next Top Model, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and 90210, continued last night with the season debuts of NBC's Parenthood and the CW's One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected. Parenthood (2.7 rating/8 share in adults 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) was down 13% in the demo from its heavily promoted midseason premiere. It still won the 10 PM by a large margin and logged its second largest audience ever. CW's One Tree Hill (2.2 million, 1.3/5 in 18-34) was down 12% in total viewers from last season's premiere, sophomore One Tree Hill (1.7 million, 1.0/3 in 18-34) was down 37% from its debut. Both shows delivered CW's largest audience on the night in an year.

The final performance show for this season of NBC's America's Got Talent (3.8/11 in 18-49, 14.3 million viewers overall) topped the night with the show's highest 18-49 rating in 3 years and its second biggest audience ever. It was up 15% from last week and up 15% from last year's performance finale. Talent's lead-in, the season finale of Minute to Win It (1.9/6), was up 6% from last week, while the finale of ABC's Wipeout (2.8/9) was flat with last week and up 27% from last season's finale. NBC won the night in total viewers (9.5 million) and 18-49 (2.8/8).
