Suddenly, NBC seems like the stable one.
With ABC rocked by entertainment president Steve McPherson's abrupt departure, and Fox in the midst of "Idol"-pocalypse as the network scrambles to play judges roulette, NBC's usually high-drama press tour executive session seemed downright serene.
"We're trying to rebuild, and we recognize some of the mistakes that we've made over the past several years," said entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin. ""We put a lot more money into development this year. We believe we have a lot more stability in the network than in quite some time."
Gaspin reflected on the changes at the network this past year, during which the network briefly turned its 10 p.m. hour over to Jay Leno and lost long-time talent Conan O'Brien to TBS.
"We made too many changes too quickly from a position of weakness," Gaspin said. "And so it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. The goal is to rebuild, get stronger. And then, if we need to make changes at that point, it will be several years down the line. We'll have more information, but we won't be working from such a position of weakness, which really jeopardized some of the decisions that we made."
After the panel, when asked about making any new late night changes, Gaspin said, "I'm done with late night for now. I'm going to focus on primetime."
Given Simon Cowell's departure from Fox's ratings titan "Idol," Gaspin said he said there may be an opportunity for rivals next year.
"I do think 'Idol' could pose an opportunity but I don't think it's specific to a music show," he said. "We don't have to be afraid necessarily to put a good show up against it."
One critic expressed some concern about NBC's most promising fall pilot, "The Event," which critics have worried might suffer the same fate as ABC's similarly ambitious "FlashForward."
"We are going to do everything in our power to guard against the 'FlashForward' [problems]," said entertainment president Angela Bromstad. "We take those lessons very seriously. Audiences and critics will be rightly be skeptical."
Critics also inquired about midseason superhero drama "The Cape" and whether the network learned any lessons from "Heroes."
"'Heroes' was a great show and we had four tremendous years with that and it was a very good business for us," Bromstad said. "One of the things that we found was so much about the discovery of their powers in the first year, this is really more of a procedural and this character in 'The Cape' doesn't have super powers."
Regarding Steve Carell leaving "The Office" at the end of next season, Bromstad said the writers have a plan in place to weave his departure into the show's storyline that will build a mystery around who his replacement will be.
Gaspin added that there's no plans to move another Thursday comedy, "Community," even though CBS' top-rated "Big Bang Theory" was going into its slot this fall.
"'Big Bang' is a great show, and it's going to do very well on Thursday night," Gaspin said. "I'm hopeful that there's room for two comedies. Their audiences are somewhat different, but 'Community' has been there for the year. The audience is accustomed to watching it there. We're going to wait and see what happens."
The executives were asked a couple times about McPherson's departure, with one critic awkwardly asking if the duo have any "experience" with sexual harassment.
"Me? No," said programming president Angela Bromstad, drawing laughs. "I have no inside information about anything going on at ABC."
"I've not had any experience with it personally, and not been involved in any case of it," said Gaspin.
Also, NBC made a few announcements:
-- With the traditional September premiere week turning into a particularly intense shoot-out this year with nearly every new program premiering during the same week, NBC is launching a couple shows early with a sneak preview of Jimmy Smits legal drama "Outlaw" after the Wednesday finale of "America's Got Talent." Also, the second season of "Parenthood" will launch early, Sept. 14, after the second-to-last episode of "Talent."
-- The "30 Rock" cast will perform a live episode on Oct. 14.
-- Terrence Howard will join the increasingly notable cast of "Law & Order: LA" alongside Alfred Molina, Skeet Ulrich and Corey Stoll.
-- Rob Lowe now a full-time cast member on "Parks & Recreation."
-- Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey's production company, renewed its overall development deal with Universal Media Studios. Deal includes a pilot for UK import "Prime Suspect."

As a matter of fact, Michael was happy to talk about the end of Lost and how fans have been impacted by the way it wrapped up. "I was thrilled and proud of the finale, and especially delighted in the way my character was wrapped up," Michael said fondly. "And the fans that I've run into I think we all feel a sense of brotherhood, like we've gone on this arduous journey together." Well said, brotha.
Jackson in Seattle: Got anything fun on Sons of Anarchy? I'm so excited for that show to return.
The fourth episode of Sons of Anarchy's third season is titled "Home." Let's guess what that might mean: (1) Jax gets his son back, safe and sound; (2) Gemma returns from her temporary life on the run; (3) Ummm, any other ideas?
Adam in Fontana, Calif.: I miss Modern Family. How's the second season coming along.?
It's not coming along quite yet! The gang starts shooting again Aug. 2, but we just spoke to Emmy nominee (and one of our favorite funnymen) Eric Stonestreet, and he revealed his one hope for Modern Family's season two. "It's gonna be incredible to go back and see the kids and celebrate with them," he said. "Hopefully Lily knows our names—she's had some time to practice her words. But it's in our contract, so Jade and Ella better know Eric and Jesse!"
Theresa: Kristin, I'm so glad you're back from vacation! Where'd you go? And when will Tater Top Awards end?
You have only a few more hours to vote, so do it now right here! As for vacay, it was absolutely dreamy thanks to the kind people at Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It's quite honestly the most heavenly place I've ever been, and I highly recommend it for a thoroughly relaxing vacation. I know what you're thinking: Relaxing with a 1-year-old baby...Say whaaa? But my own San "Luca" loved it, too, and it was an awesome time all around. Even if you're staying elsewhere in Cabo, check out their restaurant, El Restaurante. My husband and I might need to renew our vows just to be able to have a reception there cause it's so purrrty. That's completely rational, right?
Monica: Please, some good Gossip Girl news! I heard that Clémence (Eva) is going to be a series regular. Please say that's not so! I want hope for Chuck and Blair.
Here's the teensy bit of hope I can offer: I'm told Clémence Poésy is not a series regular for the coming season. I'm also told that Blair does not have a new love interest in the works. So maybe that's...something?! In other news, you know those photos of Dan and Serena pushing around a stroller? I hear that's Dan's actual baby! Get this, we have and it's good. Even better, the premiere has a little twist: You'll meet the contestants in the beginning of the ep, per usual, but they're not really contestants yet! We'll give you a second to process that 'dun-dun-dun!' Once the gang arrives in New York, they'll be given five hours to put together a look and the worst of the worst will be sent packing, failing the last phase of the audition process. Side note: The new 90-minute format feels a little long.
Joe in Costa Mesa, Calif.: I am seriously loving this season of True Blood! I'll take any scoop you've got!
How about some Bon Temps body count intel? Director Scott Winant tells us: "This season the fewest actors die. I killed my share, but compared to season two, not as many." Are you breathing a sigh of relief that we'll be losing less of our beloved characters or do you tune in for the blood and carnage? We won't judge. Well, maybe just a little.

Forget Liam. Annie's found a sexy new mature man, and it's all because of some spilled coffee. You think life in Dillon ever works out smoothly for anyone? Especially not for the Riggins brothers. Sorry to tell you buddy, but there are some rough roads ahead for Tim and Billy. But the silver lining to that is seeing Taylor Kitsch in some of his best acting in the series. And that's saying something.

While Michael Westen guards the old-timer (aka his "Ghost of Christmas Future"), Fi and freshly burned spy Jesse (Coby Bell) confront his old boss (Richard Kind, Curb Your Enthusiasm's Cousin Andy). Jesse gets closer to the truth...while Fi and Michael grow farther apart. Sadface.

Lisa in Hollywood, Calif.: I love that Tommy is trying to stay sober on Rescue Me. Does it stick?
What do you think? He definitely wants to stay clean, especially now that Father Phil (Peter Gallagher) is all up in his grill about getting his act together. But by the end of the episode, after an awkward conversation in his home, Tommy might find the bottle to be his only friend.
May in St. Louis: I'm kind of curious to see how Joe Jonas does on Hot in Cleveland. Got any scoop on his character?
He'll be playing Will, Melanie's son, and it's safe to say at first look, their relationship is not exactly smooth. ""It's typical. I'm on my phone a lot, kind of distracted, doing my own thing," Joe tells us. "She wants to get close to him, but it's kind of hard." Kids today with their texting and tweeting and whatnot. Valerie Bertinelli also adds that Joe has an "adorable scene" with the always flawless Betty White. Maybe he serenades her? Fingers crossed.
Joe in San Francisco: I'm so excited for My Boys to come back! What can you tell us about the first episodes back?
How about one of my favorite moments with the gang I've ever witnessed? In an upcoming episode, someone makes brownies that have a certain extra ingredient. What would be a typical stoner storyline turned into something simply awesome because of the unlikely victims of the fun brownies. Trust, it makes for some crazy hilarious scenes, and you don't need to be baked to enjoy them.

Check out our favorite single duo, Mike and Brendan, suiting up in one of the early episodes. Seriously, Barney Stinson would be proud. Like usual, they're trying to pick up girls. I can't wait to see how the new season of Fringe goes down. What have you heard? — Martha
MICKEY: As it did in Season 1, the Fringe division will have an in-house adversary, a powerful government official who thinks Agent Broyles gives his team far too much latitude. Her actions will complicate things for Walter & Co., who will already be burdened by the secret sabotage of Nolivia (the "over-there" Olivia).
Can I have some Addison-and-Sam Private Practice scoop, please? — Jamie
ADAM: Well, series star Kate Walsh is thrilled by the coupling, but she hopes the new season will show the pair's happier moments. "You get to play the tension... [but] we didn't have time in the season to really explore the friendship and how much fun they have together," Walsh says. "They're really two people who enjoy each other and it's fabulous for them to make the decision to go for it."
How are True Blood's werewolves different than shifters? — Lila
MICKEY: They're definitely similar, but werewolves are a bit more ambitious. For example, they fought in World War II... just not on our side. Details! Look for an Eric-and-Godric flashback about these cani-Nazis, which will probably confuse you once you find out who employs Bill's kidnappers.
Got any teasers for the new season of Criminal Minds? — Meg
ADAM: The premiere will answer all the cliff-hanger's questions, in particular how and why Tim Curry's character started taking lives. "He's really the most prolific killer we've ever seen. He's done this his entire life," co-executive producer Erica Messer tells us. "The premiere will have to revisit and say, 'We know it's all about the dark, but why? Where did he start?'"
I can't wait for April and Andy to hook up on Parks and Recreation. Please tell me it'll happen soon. — April (really!)
MICKEY: A&A will definitely spend more time together next season. First, they'll work together, both at Pawnee Town Hall... and elsewhere. Later, they'll share a late-night snack of olives and cherries. It's more romantic than it sounds.
When will Rescue Me be back? Did Tommy survive the gunshot? — Karen
ADAM: The boys of 62 Truck suit up again on June 29 at 10/9c. As for Tommy's fate, I'll say only this: The opening moments of Season 6 depict Tommy's vision of the afterlife. Meanwhile, the men in the firehouse will be in big trouble with FDNY brass because of the shooting.
Please tell me that Entourage will be good this season. — Berto
MICKEY: It certainly sounds promising. Eric and Sloan are still engaged. Turtle finds some measure of success — and a girlfriend — after a fortuitous trip South of the Border. Meanwhile, Ari is in legal trouble. Quick story: I have an attorney friend who keeps a list titled "Ari's Actionables" — everything Ari says or does that could prompt a lawsuit against him. My friend counts at least four per episode. So is it really a surprise that Ari's getting sued?
Any other guest stars planned for this season of Californication? — Parker
ADAM: You may have heard that Rescue Me's Callie Thorne will guest-star as a single mother who tempts Hank. But the show is also looking for an actress to play Charlie's new real estate agent and eventual lovah.
So if this season of Royal Pains is the "summer of love," when will Evan have some fun? — Marisol and Dave
MICKEY: Pretty soon. "We are going to be introducing a character toward the middle of the season who's not quite the type you'd imagine for [Evan]," executive producer Andrew Lenchewski tells us. "Something is going to develop between them in a fairly unusual way, and then to start evolve into a more romantic relationship." In possibly related news, we'll also meet Divya's sister, who tolerates her arranged marriage the old-fashioned way: She cheats!
What's happening in the new season of My Boys? — Lorena
ADAM: Now that everyone knows that Kenny (Michael Bunin) and Stephanie (Kellee Stewart) are hooking up, this season will explore the oft-bickering couple's relationship out in the open. But don't expect them to be lovey-dovey. "He still gets on my nerves," Stewart tells us. Adds Bunin: "I don't think we lose a step as far as us insulting each other as much as we can; we're just officially dating." Also, Xosha Roquemore from Precious will play Stephanie's sister.
Nancy's dating a bartender this season on Weeds? Not sure I like that idea. — Calvin
MICKEY: Nancy is on the run, which means she has to lay low. Besides, who says the bartender will be her only beau? I'm hearing about another blue-collar type who'll rev her engine as well. But I'm guessing you're not going to be crazy about that idea either, Calvin, you big snob!
Loved the Breaking Bad finale, but it made me wonder: Will Jesse ever discover Walt's role in Jane's death? — West
ADAM: Series creator Vince Gilligan says that while the show touched on the truth in the Season 3 episode "Fly," the complete revelation probably won't come out for a while. "It's the elephant in the parlor," he says. "If Jesse ever found out, I can't even imagine what the consequences would be. I think it would be in our endgame for the series. It does seem to me the series will perhaps be incomplete if Jesse never finds out about Walt's secret."
Adam's Mega Rave: Give Aaron Paul an Emmy already. His heartbreaking performance in Breaking Bad's near-perfect finale capped a season chock-full of complex character growth. He's a huge part of why Breaking Bad is the best show on television.

Parks & Recreation Scoop!
NBC's Parks and Recreation doesn't return with new episodes until spring 2011, but they already have a bunch of fresh installments in the can. Shooting has been continuing into the summer so that pregnant star Amy Poehler can enjoy her maternity leave in the fall. Amy's co-star Aubrey Plaza, who plays April, says the cast had a particularly fun time shooting an upcoming episode that finds Amy's Leslie Knope putting together a time capsule.
"Leslie wants everyone to put something in there," says Aubrey. "Jerry (Jim O'Heir) puts in some really boring journals because Jerry's boring, and Leslie puts in a text book that she wrote herself about the history of the town."
This is the episode that features Saturday Night Live's Will Forte (of MacGruber fame) as a crazy townsperson obsessed with the Twilight series of vampire books. "He basically handcuffs himself to Leslie's desk because he wants to put a copy of Twilight in the time capsule and she won't let him," says Aubrey. Expect a twist in the end that won't be uncovered until future Pawnee denizens dig up the capsule. Teases Aubrey, "Let's just say it gets buried, but I'm not going to tell you what ends up in it."
Could it possibly departing cast member Paul Schneider, who played Mark? Wouldn't that be a twist!

Ausiello: I asked Josh Schwartz that very question and here’s what the boss man had to say: “I’m a big fan of women with lassos. [Lynda's] an icon as an actress and is someone who fits the show’s universe…but not necessarily for this role.” Translation: It’s a long shot. So what kind of actress is he looking for to play Chuck’s MIA spy ma? “I don’t want to shed too much light on the character,” he hedges, “but we need someone who can kick ass.” Okay, let’s go with my second choice then: Jamie Lee Curtis. Who’s with me?
Question: I’m looking for a Community bulletin. —Frida
Ausiello: If by that you mean, will I give you some fall scoop, sure, Frida. Though we now know that Senor Chang isn’t qualified to be a Spanish professor anyplace but Sesame Street, Ken Jeong will be back. Even before his character was exposed as a fraud, “I was worried,” he admits, “because I knew they couldn’t take Spanish forever at community college.” But now the teacher will become a student. And “I think he will definitely try to hang with Winger a lot more,” Jeong suggests. “He’ll relate to him, because [the former lawyer] is also at Greendale because he got caught without the credentials for his job.”

Ausiello: While on the set last week for the Ultimate Fan Experience, I spied a very creepy scene being shot between Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and his new beau, Jesus (played by Kevin Alejandro) that sheds new light on something Ellis told my colleague Tim Stack in this week’s Entertainment Weekly cover story. “There is absolutely more to him than meets the eye,” he teased. “There is something supernatural about Jesus, and how dark it is has yet to be seen.”
Question: Any chance True Blood will bring Maryann back from the dead? —Will
Ausiello: No chance. But exec producer Alan Ball hints that, “We will be seeing some people that we thought were gone this year.” He also reveals that this season’s Big Bad will prove far more difficult to get rid of than Michele Forbes’ bat-s— crazy maenad. “We’ve had two seasons where the arch villain sort of met his or her demise,” he says. “I’m looking at a different way to dispatch our arch villain this year so that he might be able to come back in the future.” I can’t be sure but I think he’s talking about this guy.
Question: Not to jump the gun, but I’ve already seen season 4 of Friday Night Lights (on DirecTV), so I’m dying for some season 5 scoop on coach Taylor & Co. —Hattie
Ausiello: When Jason returns to Dillon, he’ll be a full-fledged sports agent and a married man.
Question: You wouldn’t happen to have any scoop on whether Smallville will be casting a new baddie for its 10th and final season? —Zach
Ausiello: While I have no official info on season 10′s Big Bad, I think we can safely assume — based on a certain scene in last month’s season finale — that Clark will be squaring off against DC Comics’ fire-eyed baddie Darkseid. Got casting suggestions? Hit the comments!
Question: Could you tell me if Sarah Drew is coming back next season on Grey’s Anatomy? Her performance was the best thing about the finale. It’d be a shame if Shonda Rhimes doesn’t bring her back. —Newton

Question: That’s great news about Jesse Williams becoming a series regular on Grey’s Anatomy. Let’s hope Shonda does the right thing and pairs him with Sandra Oh. I love me some Jackson and Cristina. —Marsha
Ausiello: Unfortunately, Williams’ gut is telling him Jastina is not in the cards next season. “My hunch is that if I were to get a love interest, it would be someone new,” he says. “I feel like everyone has been with everyone and most people seem secure in their relationships for now. But I really like working with Sandra so it would be fine by me…But full disclosure, I know nothing. The writers and Shonda have disclosed nothing to me about season 7. But I’m excited for him to make more fully developed relationships with the other [characters]. I want to get myself more embedded and do more doctor work. People always ask about the romance stuff, but I find the hospital business and the surgeries way more fascinating.”
Question: Any chance for a romantic spark between Cal and Gillian on Lie to Me? —Julie
Ausiello: They hug in this Monday’s very eventful episode, but I hear it’s more tender than romantic.

Ausiello: Gossip Girl is not going to play the amnesia card with Chuck next season. But the little Bass-tard will emerge from his near-death experience a very changed man.
Question: Any Gossip Girl scoop regarding Nate and Serena? Are they really finished? —Kayla
Ausiello: The fact that producers are casting a new love interest for Nate should answer your question.
Question: Do you have any idea how Dexter will “resurrect” Rita next season? —Mark
Ausiello: I know how they won’t. They won’t flash back to her grisly murder at the hands of Mr. T. And they also won’t pick up right where they left off — with Rita drowning in a pool of blood. And in both cases I say, thanks very much Dexter writers!
Question: On 30 Rock, Jack’s lady Avery is preggo. Does that mean Elizabeth Banks is sticking around the Rock full time next season? —Andrea
Ausiello: Nope, it sure doesn’t. While Banks will definitely be back, there are no plans for her to become a series regular. As my former Scrubs costar told me back in January, “[I'm] having too much fun making movies [to commit to a TV show]. The [TV jobs] are a really fun thing to do between movie gigs.”
Question: Burn Notice scoop? Anything? —Craig
Ausiello: Later this season, look for Michael to go undercover as ex-CIA bigwig Gustav “Gus” Avrakotos. Sort of. According to Jeffrey Donovan, an upcoming episode was inspired by “Philip Seymour Hoffman’s character in Charlie Wilson’s War. I take on that type of persona. That was a lot of fun to do.”
Question: What’s the buzz on NBC’s The Cape? —Clint
Ausiello: Well, if the pilot is half as entertaining as the interview I conducted with the show’s stars (David Lyons and Summer Glau) at NBC’s upfront event, I predict a massive hit!
Question: I hate to admit it, but I kind of dug Pretty Little Liars. I'm worried about the central mystery dragging on forever though. Please put my mind at ease. —Jennifer
Ausiello: I'll let the show's star Lucy Hale do the honors instead. "By the end of the first season, viewers will find out what happened to our friend and who is threatening us," she reveals. "And there are a bunch of twists and turns that would take us into season two — should we be so lucky."
Question: Amazing job hosting the True Blood Q&A! But do you have any scoop on Greek's upcoming season? —Joanna
Ausiello: What say you, series creator Sean Smith? "Mid-way through our 10-episode cycle we have an episode entitled 'All About Beav,' which tells the story of an episode through the perspective of our Beaver. He's an awesome character played by the strapping Aaron Hill, who has been in the periphery of so many of our episodes. He's a huge fan favorite and we finally get to see more of his life. Anybody else counting the minutes til Vampire Porn returns?
Or, wait. What 's its real name? Oh right, True Blood. And having just watched the first batch of fangtastic episodes of the third season—which starts this Sunday on HBO—I can tell you: The Vamp-Porn is back, baby! In fact, this season has more eye-popping and jaw-dropping sex scenes than ever before. And you fans know, that's sayin' something.

I think I'm so very grateful for Alan Ball and his cast and crew right now, because the next few months of TV would be looking so bleak if not for this Sunday's return of TB. They're so not in a happy place. But one of them will be in a sexy place. Here's what I can tell you about the first three episodes: Either Bill or Sookie has sex with someone, and it is hands-down the most unforgettable (you will have dreams/nightmares afterward!) sex scenes in the entire run of True Blood so far. Here's what else you can expect from the first three episodes:
Someone tries to commit suicide.
Someone tries to kill a sibling.
Someone loses his head.
Someone is pregnant.
Someone has a one night stand--and it's the last person you'd expect.

Brett in Los Angeles: Any scoop on Dexter?
Just caught up with the always amazing Jennifer Carpenter (F--kin' Deb!) so stand by for that. In the meantime, Showtime has confirmed that Julia Stiles will guest star in 10 episodes this season, as "a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) in the wake of the death of his wife." You have it all figured out what she's playing, right? 'Cause this show is so predictable. (Eyeroll.)
Vicki in Orlando, Fla.: I'm hearing great things about Memphis Beat. Can you tell me anything about it?
We love Jason Lee, and we think everyone else will love him in this cop series that doubles as a love letter to Memphis. You also get to see Jason man a microphone, which should be enough reason to check out the pilot, airing June 22.
Boyd in Maui: Any word on whether or not Joshua Jackson will really guest star on Vampire Diaries?
Not yet, but another Dawson's alum has enlisted my help in securing a spot on Vampire Diaries, and this time Life Unexpected's Kerr Smith is the culprit. "When you interview Kevin today, will you ask him?," he asked me at The CW Upfronts. "I would love to play a vampire!" Hope Kev's taking notes!

Yasmine: Do you have anything more to say about the Lost finale?
Just that according to you all, it was the best and worst finale of the TV season! Not surprising, given the intense reaction so many of you had to it. Whether you loved it or hated it, it was certainly by my account the event of the TV season. (We have a reporter meeting up with Jorge Garcia this week in Monte Carlo, so if you have questions for him, holler.) Also, you guys loved Grey's Anatomy finale, because it was crazy good and you guys have excellent taste! And ditto Vampire Diaries. Bill Lawrence hasn't made an official statement, but Courteney Cox is weighing in with a big fat no. Says one of our favorite Friends: "At this point, I don't think so." Her hubby David Arquette had a good suggestion to fix the name fiasco, though. "Maybe they'll do a 'C.T.' [abbreviation] thing—like KFC!" Brills!
James in New Jersey: I love seeing Amy Poehler and Will Arnett working together! Any chance she'll pop up on his new Fox show?
As a matter of fact, we just asked Amy if there'd be any Running Wilde in her future, and while she assured us she's just focusing on her baby-to-be for now, she's not saying no. "We never rule it out," she explained, "but for now we're both going to be working on our own shows. But I'm such a huge fan of Mitch and Will and the whole show...so anything they want me to do!"

Sure. Will Schuester is pregnant! *Gasp* But who is the father? "Coach Tanaka!" Matthew Morrison joked to our own Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. All kidding aside, Matthew unfortunately plays dumb on next season: "They're writing the first script back right now and we have no idea what's going on." However, he does give "maybe's" and "you never know" to questions about a Britney Spears episode and a Madonna episode reprise. Another guest star he throws in the mix? "Barack Obama!"

Jolene in Arkansas: Will we see Ryan Hanson and Adam Scott back on Party Down if it gets another season?
Even with its sad state of ratings, we adore Party Down--and so do its stars! Adam tells us he's so happy to be a part of the Parks and Recreation family, but he's still onboard for more Party if need be. "By design, the show can withstand cast changes, but I can do three episodes if it gets picked up and I would be anxious to do it." As for Kristin Bell's bestie Ryan, whose NBC pilot Friends with Benefits was recently picked up, he'd love to come back, too. "I don't know how that works, but hopefully," he said. "And hopefully they get a season three."
Mae in Boston: More Parks and Recreation, please!
Ask and ye shall receive. Look for lots of fun stuff between Tom (Aziz Ansari) and Ben (Adam Scott) at the start of season three, as a new brand of bromance ignites in Pawnee.
Martin: I don't get HBO. Wah! What can I watch this summer instead of True Blood?
Actually, ABC's The Gates is pretty engaging. I just checked out the first two episodes and it's sort of like Desperate Housewives (sans camp) meets your favorite vampire series--but a lot more clean for the kiddos. Rhona Mitra stars as a suburban housewife who is a vampire married to another vampire...And really, how can you go wrong with Rhona Mitra? The gated community in which she lives also has werewolves and succubuses.(Succubi? No wait, sorry, they're all hetero. Ba-dum-bump.) And the teenagers are in on the action too. It's worth checking out. Premieres June 20 on ABC.

Brittany in Overland Park, Kan.: Pretty Little Liars are my favorite books. How different is the show going to be?
You probably know that the actresses (except Privileged's Lucy Hale as Aria) don't physically resemble the books' characters (although they sure are pretty!), but their personalities and the plot are pretty spot-on. When we chatted with the cast on set when they were filming episode six, Troian Bellisario (Spencer) said, "We're kind of going out of order right now—we're just hitting on some things in [the first book], and now we're into two." What happened to the girls' nasty friend Alison is revealed at the end of the first episode—and there's nothing pretty about that. (Come back here tomorrow before the show's premiere for more scoop from the Pretty Little Liars set!)
Breanne in New York City: I'm such a fan of the Huge novels, but am a little ambivalent about the new ABC Family series. Any words of encouragement?
My advice to you is to go in with an open mind, and know that Huge is not exactly the same as the novels you know and love. That said, it's fun summer fare and definitely something to fill the void while all your other faves are MIA. And Gina Torres (of Angel and Firefly fame) is absolutely fab in one of the few adult roles on the show.

Indeed! Howard Gordon is putting hope in all the hearts of Jack Bauer fans around the world. "The current status of the movie is that Billy Ray has written a draft which Kiefer has read, and we're all working together on the second draft," he says. But don't start planning your premiere night outfits just yet, as there have been no official announcements: "It's very much a work in progress. It's all very much speculative at this point."
Jamie in Hollywood: Yay for Lie to Me coming back! What's going on in tonight's season premiere?
The spring season of Lie to Me opens with an intense episode, called "Beat The Devil". Lightman (Tim Roth) chases his suspicion of a young scientist being a psychopathic killer, and he's not just trying to get back at the student for showing him up at his own lying game. The team doesn't really believe Lightman, but they help him unravel the mystery anyway.
Kalee in Boston: Lie to Me is the only reason I'm excited for summer TV. Got any scoop for me?
The June 14 episode has an explosive beginning, and it revolves around Lightman's past. Not only do we get a case that comes from his days with the CIA, but we get to see how Lightman and Foster met and became team members.

Totally agree. Zach Gilford gave an Emmy worthy performance in our book. This week's episode of Friday Night Lights, titled "Stay", brings back the lovely Minka Kelly. Her scenes with Taylor Kitsch are as about a heart wrenching as you can get. More Emmy worthy stuff, I tell ya. If you don't feel a tug on your heartstrings when Lyla asks Tim a not-so-simple question, you must have no soul!
Aileen in New York: I know Taylor Kitsch won't be a series regular anymore on Friday Night Lights, but he'll be coming back for some episodes next season, right?
Jason Katims sure thinks so! "We're hoping he will come back for the last few episodes of the fifth season," he tells us. "I'm certainly hoping he's coming back because we've written the episodes!" Taylor, we know you'll be busy being a huge movie star, but make sure you come back to Dillon, 'kay? As for Adrienne Palicki, she tells me: "Yes. I will be back this final season. Probably a couple episodes. I'm thinking the later part of the season."
Claire in Bridgeport, Conn.: So bummed Nurse Jackie is ending! What can we expect on tonight's season finale?
You can expect Coop (Peter Facinelli) to make a new friend: Sam's fist. Coop is the dumbest doctor we know, but openly admitting to sleeping with Sam's girlfriend and trying to pass it off as a favor is the stupidest move he's pulled in awhile. But you really want to know if Jackie makes a decision between Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) and Eddie (Paul Schulze), right? Well, this episode will actually have you pulling for both men, and the final moments of the finale are ones that we've been working up to allll season long.
Brandon in Poughkeepsie, Pa.: Anything on the United States of Tara finale?
Whoda thunk Tara's kids would be the ones to find out the piece of her past that might just fix this whole personality disorder thing?! We'll that just so happens to be the case.
Casting News for Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, Parks and Recreation
* Burn Notice: John Seda (Homicide, The Pacific) will guest star on the USA smash later this season as Cole, a disgruntled ex-Marine who now works as a killer for hire. Elsewhere, Tim Matheson and Garrett Dillahunt have signed on to reprise their respective roles as “Dead” Larry Sizemore and jailbird Simon.
* Covert Affairs: The forthcoming USA thriller has tapped Friday Night Lights‘ D.W. Moffett to play a magnetic and powerful senator and chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Annie (Piper Perabo) is assigned to investigate the Senator after a leak is suspected in compromising a number of overseas military operations. Lauren Holly (NCIS) will appear as the senator’s refined and graceful wife.
* Parks and Recreation: Carlo Mendez (brother to Eva) has booked a multi-episode arc on the unfairly-benched-till-mid-season comedy. He’ll play a love interest for [major spoiler alert].
