Ausiello: Probably not until spring. You’ll be happy to know that her temporary replacement, Amber Tamblyn, makes a positive first impression in her Nov. 8 debut. As you would expect, her character — supersmart and moralistic med student Martha M. Masters — gets quite a hazing from House‘s boys club. We’ll soon discover that a member of said club shares a past with House‘s “immutable obstacle,” as Dr. Crankenstein calls her. Other colorful nicknames assigned to the newbie on her first day of work include:

Question: Could you please give some spoilers on Psych regarding Shawn and Juliet? —Steve
Ausiello: The show’s fall premiere (airing Nov. 10) will pick up shortly after the couple’s big kiss in the finale. “Our viewers are probably a little unsure of what that kiss meant,” says exec producer Steve Franks. “Will Juliet still take some time away on the Amalfi coast with Declan, or did the kiss change her mind? In the 5.5 premiere, she is still on her way to Italy, and Shawn is on his way to Canada at the request of convicted thief Pierre Despereaux [a returning Cary Elwes]. Their divergent travel plans may have derailed their romantic momentum, until Juliet unexpectedly shows up in Vancouver for Despereaux’s extradition and that spark becomes a fire. The question is, Do Shawn and Juliet believe ‘what happens in Canada, stays in Canada’? Stay tuned.”

Ausiello: Seinfeld‘s Wayne Knight will channel his inner Willy Wonka when he guest-stars as a candy magnate in an episode that features “one of our most revolting body finds ever,” reveals exec producer Stephen Nathan. “A body is discovered inside one of the world’s largest chocolate bars. It’s delightfully revolting.”
Question: Which episode marks Hannah’s permanent exit from Bones? —Lexie
Ausiello: That’s awfully presumptuous of you, Lexie. The fact is, Katheryn Winnick’s stint as Booth’s lover (and Brennan’s new BFF) doesn’t actually have an end date. “We don’t know how long she’s going to be with us this season,” says Nathan. “We want to keep it open. Hannah’s story is still evolving; we don’t know how we want to wrap it up. And even if she does go away, we want to leave open the possibility that she may come back.”
Question: It’s been a while since we’ve had any good Bones scoops. Do you have any interesting information to get me through the baseball hiatus? —Amy
Ausiello: How ’bout another tidbit about everyone’s favorite character, Hannah. “I’m working on an episode right now where Brennan and Hannah’s friendship is tested,” reveals Nathan. “It relates to something that happened between Booth and Brennan at the end of the Brennan-centric episode. It creates some friction between Booth, Brennan, and Hannah that has to be worked out.” Hmm…any thoughts on what happens between B&B? Hit the comments!

Ausiello: Mitchell’s “straight” past comes back to haunt him around mid-November when CTU legend Mary Lynn Rajskub guest-stars as his ex. “She dated Mitchell in high school, and they may’ve done the nasty,” says Rajskub with a chuckle. “I think he broke my heart.” The two have what Rajskub calls an “awkward” reunion at a shopping center. “Mitch and Cam end up coming over to talk to me about an incident,” she teases, “but I can’t discuss that because it’ll ruin the story.”
Question: I was curious if you had any information on the 24 movie. Will it be going into production soon? —Brandon
Ausiello: Based on the following status report from Rajskub, I’m guessing the answer is no. “I don’t know what’s going on with it,” she says. “Everybody asks me about it, but I don’t know anything. I think it would be great if it happened a year after the show went off the air, but I haven’t heard anything.”

Ausiello: Um, shouldn’t you be buying me the presents? Eh, whatever. This has always been kind of a one-sided relationship, so no point screwing with such a winning formula now. Here’s your scoop: Series creator Shonda Rhimes reiterated to me in a recent interview that Callie and Arizona are in it for the long haul. “Their journey is going to be long and hard, but that doesn’t mean they’re not going to end up together,” she maintained. “People better just prepare themselves for things to be difficult.” I then asked her if she would out Mark and Lexie in that same soul-mate-type category, and she replied, “No,” before quickly adding, “That doesn’t mean that I don’t see them as two people who are going to end up together… There’s hope for Mark and Lexie, [but] Lexie has some growing up to do, as does Mark.”
Question: There’s a Grey’s rumor going around about an Alex/April/Lexie triangle. True? —Diana
Ausiello: False. “I honestly have no idea what [fans] are talking about,” responded Rhimes. “We have no plans for an Alex/April/Lexie triangle.”
Question: Got anything on the truly epic Boardwalk Empire? —Hope
Ausiello: We meet Nucky’s (Steve Buscemi) dad in this Sunday’s episode, and to say father and son had a frakked-up relationship is an understatement of epic proportions. The ep also features a memorable showdown between Michael Pitt’s Jimmy and the thug who slashed his hooker girlfriend’s face. Oh, and shocker: Another recurring character gets whacked!
Question: Can I have some scoop on Castle? —Lori
Ausiello: A pivotal couple will break things off in the near future, and I can confirm it’s either Gina and Castle or Beckett and this guy. Elsewhere, a new — and rather surprising — interoffice romance will ignite in January.
Question: Can you please give me some good NCIS scoop, preferably about McGee? —Z.
Ausiello: He’s not the team member who gets “shot” in the big two-parter on Nov. 16 and 23. For those keeping track at home, that leaves Tony, Vance, and Ziva in the running. Oh, and I put SHOT in quotes because it’s not exactly a traditional shooting. The person will be wounded not by a gun, but by an explosive weapon.

Ausiello: I think you’re confusing CSI: NY with Medium, which just had its episode order cut back from 22 to 13. I think CSI: NY — which has been doing solid business on Fridays — is safe for the time being. Speaking of the spin-off, Karina Lombard of Rescue Me and L Word fame has just been cast as the grieving mother of the victim in a January episode.
Question: What chance does Parenthood have of getting a full season? —Chevy
Ausiello: I’d say it stands a pretty good chance, since it already received a full-season pickup in May.

Ausiello: Casting scoop: Make It or Break It‘s Zachary Abel has been tapped to play, um, Zach, a hot surfer dude that Naomi develops a major crush on.
Question: What is the deal with Juliet on Gossip Girl? —Kathleen
Ausiello: The deal is I’m hearing a major character (or two) will join forces with the troublemaker to take Serena down. Exec producer Stephanie Savage, meanwhile, says, “A good chunk of Juliet’s plan will be revealed by the end of the first half of the season, but elements of it will carry over.”

Ausiello: B&S showrunner David Marshall Grant sure isn’t talking like it’s the end. “This isn’t so much about the crisis itself,” he says, “as it is about watching two people fight their way through it.” BTW, we’ll met the “other man” this Sunday, and he’s going to look a lot like Ryan Abbot from Three Rivers (a.k.a. Christopher Hanke).

Ausiello: As my frenemy first scooped, Balthazar Getty is returning in January for the show’s 100th episode. And per Grant, he’ll be sticking around for a while. “He’s coming back for [at least] three episodes,” says the boss, who confirms that Tommy returns with a new girlfriend on his arm. “It causes a big stir in the Walker family.”

JAG's David James Elliott Returns to CBS on CSI: NY
One of CBS' biggest stars is coming back to the network! David James Elliott, who starred as Cmdr. Harmon "Harm" Rabb, Jr. on JAG from 1995-2005, has been cast on CSI: NY. And it's an awesome role.
David will play Russ Josephson, the ex-husband of Sela Ward's new investigator, Jo Danville. (Expect Jo to crack a joke about being Jo Josephson.) David will debut in an early January episode he is now shooting, and producers tell me there's a possibility he could come back for more.
Russ is not only Jo's ex, he's also the father of their college-aged son, Tyler, and an FBI agent. According to insiders, "their relationship is civil, but Jo still fights his obvious desire to reignite the past." Sounds juicy!

Exec producer Matt Miller must agree. “Between our incredible stunt coordinator (Emmy nominee Dean Cho) and our producer-director Steve Boyum, who spent the majority of his career as a stunt man, we have the best stunts on television,” he boasts. And what sort of explodey goodness is on tap for Season 2, premiering this Friday at 8/7c? “For our eighth episode, our kind of ‘holiday ‘episode, we really wanted to destroy a mall,” Miller says. “We wanted a cool set piece where Chance is just wreaking havoc in a mall.” I suggested the episode title “A Very Human Target Christmas” – cross fingers!

First, let’s ask Clark himself. “I would think so,” Tom Welling told me Saturday night at the show’s 200th episode party. “I’m not sure what exactly they have in store for [the final season], but Lois is definitely a part of Clark’s future.” And now, the executive producers. “There will be epic romance, that we can say,” teases Brian Peterson. This is the week Mer tells Derek that she had a miscarriage. But also on the horizon are some powerhouse scenes on the sisterly front. As the aftermath of the shooting continues to play out and “Meredith begins mothering everybody, Lexie is like, ‘Hey, what about me? I don’t understand where you’ve been for me in this,’” Chyler Leigh previews. That leads to “several really great scenes between the two of us, where we really define what our relationship is.”

If by info you mean raves, here’s one castmate’s take on Jensen’s turn behind the camera: “The truth of the matter is he’s a natural,” Mark Sheppard (Crowley) tells Fancast. “He was extraordinarily well-prepared, and he’s very good at getting what he wants. It was fun for me and Jim [Beaver] to….” To what? Frak, Mark caught himself and stopped short of spoiling. But he did share this about the Crowley/Bobby teaser shown at Comic-Con this summer: “That is a fabulous, really fun scene – and that’s not all of the scene either. There’s a lot of stuff going on.”

You know how nothing comes between Ms. Teller-Morrow and her brood? Well, I hear that later this season, as part of a plan to find grandson Abel, Gemma’s allegiance to her family is demonstrated via a desperate act that is her most shocking exploit yet. When I asked my source if it’s the same “shocking act” that I Big Tease’d a ways back, I was laughed at and told that that act is “sooooo tame” compared to the one teased here.

It might not get downright catty, but envision more of a small kitten. As Ashley Tisdale notes, “There’s a bit of a flirtation there between Dan and Marti – you just know they have a history – so for Marti and Savannah it’s going to be up and down.” And what might said “history” entail? 'CSI: NY' books John Larroquette for arc
Mac Taylor, meet the new thorn in your side: John Larroquette.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that the multiple Emmy-winning actor—who has carved out quite the second career for himself as a dramatic thesp (see: The Practice, Law & Order: SVU, Boston Legal)—is headed to CSI: NY for a multi-episode arc.
The former Night Court horndog will play Deputy Chief of Manhattan Borough Detectives Ted Carver. Hard-nosed and savvy, Carver rose through the ranks and carefully navigated the political waters of the NYPD to obtain the rank of Deputy Chief. Look for him to butt heads with Mac when it appears the Big Apple is being terrorized by a sniper.
Larroquette is slated to first appear in the Nov. 5 episode.

I am so super-excited about the ‘House‘ premiere (airing Sept. 20)! Is it going to live up to the hype? – Lelinor
I think so, especially since Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein act almost exclusively opposite each other in their scenes, and that results in a pretty intense character study à la last season’s psych ward opener. My only quibble is that throughout much of the premiere, House is withholding one whopper of a secret from Cuddy.
Does the ‘House‘ premiere have anything worth watching for someone who doesn’t like “Huddy”? – Sabrina
Well, the Patient Of The Week is a pretty important doctor at Princeton Plainsboro. Also, the episode closes with a nifty twist that I didn’t see coming.

Factoring in the Sept. 24 season premiere’s time jump, it is now well over a year since Flack lost Detective Angell, so you can count on his angsty days being behind him. “As a result of playing all that [last season], I personally felt that the character started to feel a little alienated,” says Eddie Cahill, “so I am longing to get back into the groove.” Flack however is not immediately pegged for a new love interest; instead, EP Pam Veasey tells me that Hawkes (played by Hill Harper) is due for a hook-up.

No, Stabler is not bound for the West Coast in the episode setting up the ‘Law & Order: LA‘ spin-off. “It was a Mariska episode,” Meloni explained to me, “so she was the one who had to figure out the case with ['LOLA' lead] Skeet Ulrich.”

Exec producer Pam Veasey tells me that in addition to negotiating the Melina Kanakaredes/Sela Ward swap, the Friday, Sept. 24 season opener takes a look at “what Lindsay (Anna Belknap) is dealing with and going through” as the result of Shane Casey’s middle-of-the-night visit to the Messers’ nursery. “It speaks to Lindsay and who she’s become, and how valuable family is to her.” And Danny? “Obviously, he’s kind of shaken up by it,” Carmine Giovinazzo shares, “but he’s the rock for Lindsay right now. She’s the one that seems to need the support.”

I was impressed by how angst-free it was, even as Bones and Booth came face to face after their seven-month separation. Instead, equal time was given to the Sweets/Daisy and Angela/Hodgins stories. Plus, I like how the workplace status quo has been altered just enough (right down to a dwindled number of squints) to freshen things up.

Monday’s season premiere revolves around a nifty twist: What if Castle repeatedly emerged as a person of interest in a series of murders, thus landing him Beckett’s non-flirty crosshairs? I popped it into the DVD player on Monday night and, compared to the incomplete, 32-minute “presentation” that got sent out in the spring, it was obviously better/richer. It fleshes out the canvas – namely ‘Boston Public’ alum Sharon Leal’s storyline, which is always a good thing – with the addition of D.B. Woodside (’24′) and Jeff Hephner (’Mercy’) as the Hellcats coach’s present and past love interests. I’ll be detailing my thoughts in a Fancast First Look preview piece, but at the very least the show falls into the “Guilty Pleasures” category.

Dan and Blair? She’s about the only female he doesn’t have a scene with in the first two episodes of the new season, which debuts Sept. 13. I mean, the guy’s already juggling a seemingly waylaid romance with Serena, a possible reunion with Vanessa and whatever fresh hell Georgina has planned for him. By the way, the moment in Episode 2 when those three stories converge? Priceless.

MICKEY: Finn is all about Rachel in Season 2, according to Lea Michele. "They're very much in love," she tells us, and, brace yourself, kind of into PDA. On the other hand, Jenna Ushkowitz hints at an upcoming romantic tangle for Artie and Tina. "Artie didn't give her what she wanted, so there's a love triangle," she tells us. "She's going to make Artie work for it." Who's the other lucky guy? Two words: Other Asian.
So excited about the Grey's Anatomy wedding. How will the other docs react? — Abby
ADAM: Well, Meredith isn't exactly over the moon. "Meredith is worried that Cristina is getting married for the wrong reasons," Ellen Pompeo tells us. "She's traumatized after [the shooting] and she's rushing into marriage, which doesn't seem like the right move. It's not that she doesn't want her with Owen. ... There's just a little too much change there and Meredith is worried about Cristina's stability."
It seems like Chuck has amnesia in the promos for the Gossip Girl episodes in Paris. Please tell me that isn't true. — Jill
MICKEY: It's more accurate to say that Chuck wants to forget certain things. Mostly though, Gossip Girl's petit voyage is inspired by the immortal Spin Doctors, in that there are two princes, both of whom are royally screwed when it comes to their feelings about Blair.
So Brennan really isn't going to be jealous of Booth's new girlfriend on Bones? — Tina
ADAM: Executive producer Stephen Nathan says that Brennan will no doubt wrestle with regret about her decisions last season, but it may be Booth who torpedoes his new relationship. "He has forged a new life for himself emotionally," Nathan says. "Of course, all of this occurred when he was not around Brennan. So Brennan's presence in the mix will alter the relationship — it just has to. He's moved on, but whether he continues to move on is another thing entirely."
What's coming up on Desperate Housewives? — Barrie
MICKEY: You know how Lynette and Tom have been taking turns working over the past few seasons? Well, with another mouth to feed now, they need to become a two-income family, which means they need a baby sitter. Tom's mom (Lois Smith) might be able to help out.
Please tell me Sela Ward won't be a new love interest for Mac on CSI: NY! — Max
ADAM: Executive producer Pam Veasey assures us that there is nothing of the sort planned in the immediate future. Besides, we hear that Mac will be too focused on a new adversary to worry about his love life. The show is building a three-episode arc for a new character, a high-ranking police official who butts heads with Mac over how to handle the media during a sniper case.
With Annie and Naomi both having other storylines, is Liam going to get lost in the 90210 mix? —Becca
MICKEY: Liam will have his own troubles, most significantly the lack of a postal address. He gets a job, but quits when he isn't comfortable with the dress code (or lack thereof). A good Samaritan will then invite him to move into her poolhouse — something that happens with some frequency in Beverly Hills, according to television. So yes, after leaving a job in which he has to take his clothes off, he'll become a pool boy. Well done, Liam!
Give me some Brothers & Sisters scoop, please. — Wendy
ADAM: Get ready to see a lot more of Gilles Marini — and not just because he's a series regular this season. In the year that has passed since the Season 4 finale, Luc has become an underwear model! We're also hearing the show is looking to cast Luc's mother, who will make quite a first impression on the Walker clan. Good luck, Sarah.

MICKEY: I have it on good authority that Mitch and Cam will give the Glee kiddies a run for their money when they participate in an elaborate dance routine in an upcoming episode. I'm not a betting man (since the court order), but it's sure to be better than my favorite YouTube video ever this week.
What have you heard about Calleigh and Delko's relationship on CSI: Miami? — Chelsea
ADAM: Sounds like it will be more of the same for Calleighko, who ended last season in a place of uncertainty. But co-executive producer Barry O'Brien suggests the new season will provide clarity — eventually. "There may be some new elements that threaten their future together," he says. "You can look to Season 9 to clearly define their relationship, but we're going to take them on quite a journey first."
Are we going to have to wait another two seasons for True Blood's Arlene to give birth? — Warren
MICKEY: Well, if she brings the baby to term, she's definitely not giving birth for a long while, given the show's famously glacial timeline. But based on what Carrie Preston told us at the Emmys, I'm not so sure that she will. "There will be a resolution to Arlene's conflict, but it's not going to be what you think."
I have a feeling Don's behavior is eventually going to jeopardize the agency on Mad Men. Please tell me that I'm wrong. — Justin
ADAM: Sadly, I think you're on the right track, if only because of what Rich Sommer recently told us. "This season is about consequences and paying off things that have been building over the last three-and-a-half seasons," he says. "Decisions that were made and actions that people take all kind of reach a head. There are consequences for every single character on the show — some are minute and some are show-shattering."
Mickey's Mega Rave: I foolishly believed Nancy when she said she wanted a "normal" life for her family. But what's Weeds without, well, weed? The second the Botwins jumped back into the drug trade — this time they're going to try their hand at hash — I felt the show crackle with a familiar energy again. In this case, definitely say yes to drugs.

ADAM: She won't be great. While Cristina is usually the rock the other docs lean on, her reaction to the traumatic season finale rampage takes longer to sort out than some of the other surgeons. In fact, when she is finally cleared to go back into surgery, an accident in the OR freaks her out so much that she collapses into a sobbing mess on the floor.

MICKEY: If you were as tickled as we were to discover that Mitchell and Claire were once an figure-skating duo named Fire and Ice, you're going to love the next nugget of shame we extract from the Pritchett family vault. It seems that young Mitch was once ... a child actor. Roll the tapes, please!
Have you learned any extra details about Sela Ward's character on CSI: NY? — Elle
ADAM: I got a few straight from Ward's mouth during a recent visit to the set. Her character, Jo Danville, has a son, whom she adopted from a woman she helped put away. She's also amicably divorced, which Ward says she hopes will lead to some romantic tension between Jo and Gary Sinise's Mac. Also, her first day on the job will be a doozy: She finds a dead body — in the crime lab!
I haven't heard anything about a Sam Waterston type for Law & Order: Los Angeles yet. Will there be a district attorney? — Joel
MICKEY: Yep, and we're hearing that Deputy District Attorney Dekker (Terrence Howard) is not a fan. Like most DAs in the Law & Order universe, LO:LA's will be very politically motivated, especially when it comes to the police, whose support he needs for re-election. Another fun LO:LA fact: Skeet Ulrich's character, Detective Winters, is married to a woman who was once his partner — and his mistress!
I'm dying to know how One Tree Hill will resolve the Quinn-Clay cliffhanger! — Samantha
ADAM: They both initially survive the shooting, but Clay is in pretty bad shape. We're hearing that he is still in the hospital as of Episode 3, and it could get even more grim: In that same episode, viewers will spend lots of time with Clay's ghost.
This baby-switch storyline on Desperate Housewives seems a little dark. How can the powers that be possibly avoid tragedy in telling it? — Angela N.
MICKEY: I don't know, but it seems that they can. We've been sworn to secrecy, of course, but suffice it to say that people can be related in many ways. Perhaps the switch happened for a very good reason, and that it's ultimately for the best — for both kids in question.
Is it really over between Rigsby and Van Pelt on The Mentalist? — Amber
ADAM: It is for now, at least on the surface. "They're skirting around the idea. They're pretending that they're OK with the fact that they're not dating anymore, but they're not OK with it," says Amanda Righetti, who feels the 'shippers' pain. "I was sad they weren't together longer. There's something about his protectiveness with her that I think is really charming."
Who are the new boyfriends this season on Gossip Girl? — Lisa
MICKEY: We already told you that Serena will play le field a bit in Paris. But besides armfuls of couture and croissant-related love handles, she may also tote a cute boy back to New York. But don't get too attached. He's an older man with responsibilities — and he may not have the patience for S. & Co.'s collegiate antics.
What can you tell me about the returns of Brainiac and Supergirl on Smallville? — Jeff
ADAM: James Marsters returns as Brainiac 5, who, despite being a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the comic books, executive producer Kelly Souders describes as "a slippery fish" with a questionable moral compass. As for Supergirl, expect her to have a more dramatic impact this time around: "She's going to shake up the world for our superheroes," Souders says.
Is Bill really going to be in the state Senate this season on Big Love? — Cheryl Lin
MICKEY: Yes, although so far it seems like the greater legacy of Season 4's wild tangle of plotlines is going to be Bill's dangerous declaration. Joining him at the Statehouse will be two young Mormon men who have taken very different paths to get there. The first is a former "lost boy" who, like Bill, has eked out a respectable life despite his challenges. The second has had it easier, and his sheltered upbringing will present itself in his most unusual relationship with women.
When will Jesse figure out that Michael burned him on Burn Notice? — Mitch
ADAM: It will definitely happen before the finale, and things are going to get ugly — and deadly — fast. "There is a big blowout," Sharon Gless tells us. "I can say without ruining the story that Jesse's going to try to kill Michael." Wow, what can't she say?
Confirm for me my suspicion that Kate is not really dead on White Collar. — Jonathan S.
MICKEY: I'll do no such thing. Instead I'll say only that Kate will be returning to the show in a manner that will present her character, and that plane explosion, in a very different light. It won't be good news for poor Neal.
Adam's Mega Rave: Three episodes in and Jon Hamm already has his Emmy tape for this season of Mad Men. His effortless transition into Dick Whitman was punctuated this time around by his heartbreaking goodbye to the unknowingly cancer-stricken Anna, who, sadly, probably won't ever meet the Draper kids.

'CSI: NY' boss promises 'a noble exit' for Stella
CSI: NY‘s former leading lady Melina Kanakaredes may not be returning to wrap up her storyline, but producers still plan to give Stella a dignified send-off.
“We’re giving her a noble exit,” says co-executive producer Zachary Reiter. “We chose not to go the route of killing her off or having her go missing. We felt that would weigh too heavily on the team.”
According to showrunner Pam Veasey, viewers will learn in the show’s Sept. 24 premiere—which picks up several months after the finale—that Stella relocated to New Orleans. “She left to run a lab there,” says Veasey. “And she picked that city because it’s the city of Katrina, the city of BP oil, the city where people are looking for someone to lend a hand.
“She’ll essentially be Mac in New Orleans,” she continues. “We wanted to do something that was respectful and made a lot of sense.”
As previously reported, Emmy winner Sela Ward has been taped to fill the void left by Kanakaredes.

Ausiello: I’m keeping vigil right next to you, Jen! Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a straight answer out of the show’s EP, Steven S. DeKnight regarding Lawless’ fate. “That’s a good question that I can’t quite answer yet,” he hedged. “But she will be in the prequel. I can guarantee you that.” I guess I’ll just have to find out for myself later this week when I reunite with Lawless at Comic-Con. Speaking of which, rumor has it LL is bringing a friend with her to the EW video suite. (Hint: The friend in question was a major topic of conversation during our inaugural chat at last year’s Con.)
Question: Any new spoilers for the third season of Castle now that they’ve started filming? —Laura
Ausiello: We’ll learn a lot more about Beckett’s early years on the force in this season’s third episode when her training officer becomes the focal point of a cast. Said training officer is being played by Jason Beghe (Cane, American Dreams), and rumor has it the two may have been romantically involved back in the day.

Ausiello: Without question. I’ll admit I was worried the ABC drama would have a “been there, seen that” feel to it coming on the heels of Heroes. But Family offered a surprisingly fresh take on the Average Joe and Jane Superhero conceit. I’m definitely on board. In fact, it’s one of my top six favorite pilots. Here are the other five (in case you’re curious): Fox’s Lonestar, NBC’s The Event, The CW’s Nikita, CBS’ Hawaii Five-0, and ABC’s Better With You.

Well then this has all been a huge waste of time.

Ausiello: Yep, there’s word: And here it is: No.
Question: I’m curious how Damages‘ move to DirecTV will affect the show. Will the budget be affected? I hope they can still afford actors as accomplished as those who have populated its first three seasons. —Jake
Ausiello: The show’s budget will remain unchanged. The only difference is the next two seasons will be 10 episodes apiece (instead of 13), and the absence of commercials means producers have an extra 15 or so minutes to play around with each week.
Question: I’ve heard rumblings of different Comic-Con after parties—one in particular. Do you know anything about the rumored secret party that Chuck‘s Zach Levi is throwing? —Shar
Ausiello: You mean the one that takes place on [spoiler alert] at [spoiler alert] and features such VIP guests as [spoiler alert] and [spoiler alert]? This is the first I’m hearing of it.
Question: Can you give us a little spoiler regarding House? —Krista
Ausiello: The show has quietly been casting the role of an ex-model and psychiatric resident that ends up joining House team. But there’s a catch. And it’s a fairly big one (as in too spoilery to reveal. (And no, this is not the role Amber Tamblyn is playing.)
Question: I need a 90210 season 3 scoop—an amazing one! —Antonakis
Ausiello: There’s a death in the season premiere. Amazing enough for you?
Question: I really need some Bones scoop! Will we be seeing Zack (a.k.a. Eric Milligan) in season 6? —Elizabeth
Ausiello: Let’s ask EP Stephen Nathan: “We love Eric and would like him to return, but we have no immediate plans yet. Of course, it’s always about juggling schedules now that Eric is back in NYC and busy entertaining the masses in the Big Apple. But the season is young and it remains a possibility.”
Question: Got any Glee scoop that doesn’t involve stunt casting or musical tributes? I’m kind of sick of both. —Geoffrey
Ausiello: Ryan Murphy apparently feels your pain. The show’s creator tells me, “The second season will be more intimate and quieter with less musical numbers. People expect that we’re going to keep trying to top ourselves and out Madonna ourselves. But we’re actually doing the opposite of that. I love the characters we’ve created. I love that I’m doing a whole episode around Heather Morris (Brittany). We’ve finished a couple of the scripts and I love them even more than I did the first season. I just think they’re more emotional and funnier.”

It's official: Sela Ward joins 'CSI: NY'
CBS is now confirming what was first bandied about yesterday: CSI: NY has tapped Emmy winner Sela Ward to replace departing original cast member Melina Kanakarades.
Per CBS, Ward will play “an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim.” She’ll make her first appearance in the season 7 premiere this fall (remember: NY is moving to Fridays at 9 pm/ET).
“We are delighted to have Sela joining CSI: NY,” gushed exec producer Pam Veasey in a statement. “With the exciting stories planned for Season 7, she’ll be a dynamic addition to the cast and the team.”
“I am thrilled to be working with Gary [Sinise] and this terrific group of people,” added Ward. “I’m a huge fan.”
As reported yesterday, Kanakarades opted to move on rather than sign a new contract with the show. I’m told, however, that her departure was not related to a pay cut.
Thoughts? Is Ward a worthy successor to Kanakarades? My opinion: Hell yes!

Melina Kanakaredes exits 'CSI: NY
Another long-running CBS procedural has been rocked by a high-profile departure: Melina Kanakaredes is leaving CSI: NY.
“We hoped Melina would return to CSI: NY for another season, but we respect her decision to move on,” said CBS (network and studio) in a statement. “Her amazing talent and invaluable contribution to the success of the series are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten. She will forever remain a friend to the network and studio and we wish her the very best.”
In her own statement, Kanakaredes said, “I made some amazing and lifelong friendships during my six seasons on CSI: NY, and I will treasure them forever.”
It’s not clear if Kanakaredes will return for an episode or two to tie up Stella’s story.
