Here's the first teaser for Syfy's American-ized version of the BBC's Being Human, which is being shot now in Montreal. This is a teaser with the emphasis on "tease" because we don't get to see any characters or footage from the actual show yet.

Syfy's all-new drama series Being Human, starring Sam Witwer (Smallville, Battlestar Galactica), Meaghan Rath (The Assistants), Sam Huntington (Cavemen, Superman Returns) and Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural) has commenced production in Montreal, Canada. Adam Kane (The Mentalist, Heroes) is Director and Co-Executive Producer with Executive Producer Michael Prupas (The Kennedys, Pillars of the Earth) and husband and wife Executive Producers/Writers Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) and Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood). Muse Entertainment is producing 13 1-hour episodes for Syfy.
Being Human, a re-imagining of the acclaimed UK series created by Toby Whithouse, follows three paranormal, 20-something roommates living in Boston - vampire "Aidan" (Witwer), werewolf "Josh" (Huntington) and ghost "Sally" (Rath) - as they struggle to hide their dark secrets from the world, while helping each other navigate the complexities of living double lives and trying to be human. Mark Pellegrino plays Aidan's charismatic but menacing vampire mentor "Bishop."
The producer is Irene Litinsky (Human Trafficking, The Phantom) of Muse Entertainment, the director of photography is Pierre Jodoin (The Last Templar, Secrets of the Mountain) and the production designer is Zoe Sakellaropoulo (The Last Templar, The Phantom).

Patrick J. Adams To Star In 'A Legal Mind'; Mark Pellegrino Joins 'Being Human'
Patrick J. Adams has been cast as the lead on USA Network’s pilot A Legal Mind. Meanwhile Lost and Supernatural alum Mark Pellegrino has landed a leading role on the SyFy series Being Human.
A Legal Mind centers on Mike Ross (Adams), a brilliant but unmotivated college student who gets recruited by a top Manhattan corporate law firm despite not being a lawyer. He has to use his book and street smarts and hustling skills to keep the charade. This marks a pretty nice rebound for Adams who landed the lead on the pilot for NBC’s comedy series Friends With Benefits but was recast shortly before the pilot went into production. Adams, whose pilot credits also include Good Behavior and The Dealership, is repped by Gersh and Generate.
Based on the British series, Being Human centers on three mismatched twenty-something roommates, Aidan (Sam Witwer), a vampire, Josh, a werewolf and Sally (Meaghan Rath), a ghost. Pellegrino will play Aidan’s charismatic but menacing mentor Bishop. Pellegrino, who played Jacob on Lost and Lucifer on Supernatural, is repped by Domain and Framework.

Being Human moves to Boston for US remake
More news on Being Human US has emerged thanks to Broadcast magazine, and anyone worried it’ll be a complete rehash just swapping Bristol for Boston can rest assured they now have other things to worry about.
First the good news. The 12-part show will be filmed in Canada with a budget of $25 million (around £17.5 million) and will air in Syfy in the US in early 2011. Husband and wife team Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) and Anna Fricke (Everwood – no, me neither) are lead writers. It’s currently being cast.
Executive Producer Rob Pursey (also involved with the has said the US version will reveal more about the main characters’ family relationships. While it will keep the “chemistry” of the original, and start with the same premise of a vampire and werewolf moving into the ghost’s flat because it’s going cheap, it will take a different course from there.
Speaking to Broadcast he said: “Without letting go of the DNA of the original, it is evolving into quite a different show. It will be pacier and the characters hinterlands are broader. So with Josh, [the US version of George], you get to see another aspect of how he copes with being the outsider.”
Like George, Josh will be “a bit of a geek”, while Mitchell, the vampire character will be made “very obviously Jewish”.
Pursey added: “Syfy is very keen to take the humour and humanity rather than just the vampires, they want it to push the channel more mainstream.”
Does “obviously Jewish” mean Mitchell will metamorphose into a Woody Allen cliché? How worried are you for the US translation of this so British of shows – will it transform into its own beast (like the US version of The Office) or sink like The IT Crowd, Spaced, Life On Mars and many others before it?
