After an extensive search, British actress Shelley Conn has lnded the female lead opposite Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang on Fox's upcoming adventure series Terra Nova. The project, produced by Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin, follows Jim Shannon (O'Mara), Elizabeth Shannon (Conn) and their 3 kids - an ordinary family from 2149 who are transported back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth where they join Terra Nova, a colony of humans with a second chance to build a civilization. Production on Terra Nova, from 20th TV, Chernin Entertainment, Kapital Entertainment and DreamWorks TV, is scheduled to begin in October in Australia. The series will launch in fall 2011 after a preview in May. While she has an extensive TV series resume in the U.K., Conn, repped by Gersh, Management 360 and UK's United Agents, is virtually unknown in the U.S. She had a part in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and will next be seen in James L. Brooks' How Do You Know.

Done Deal: 'Avatar' Co-Star Stephen Lang Set As 'Terra Nova' Leading Man
Avatar baddie Stephen Lang has closed a deal to star on Fox's upcoming series Terra Nova, just as Deadline predicted. He will play the lead opposite Jason O'Mara on Terra Nova, a colony of humans from 2149 who take a second chance at building a civilization by going back 85 million years. Lang plays the charismatic and ruthless leader of the Terra Nova settlement. Alex Graves is set to direct the pilot produced by DreamWorks TV, Chernin Entertainment, Kapital Entertainment and 20th TV.

Stephen Lang Eyes 'Terra Nova' Lead, EP David Fury Exits The Fox Series
Avatar co-star Stephen Lang is eyeing time travel in the opposite direction. I hear Lang, who played the baddie in James Cameron's futuristic sci-fi tale, is in talks for the lead opposite Jason O'Mara on Fox's prehistoric drama series Terra Nova. He was an early favorite for the role but his feature commitments (Conan) prevented him from pursuing it until he just became available and received an offer from the Terra Nova producers. (A fun footnote: Terra Nova was originally set in 2149, just 5 years before the events in Avatar.) Lang would play the role of Frank Taylor, the charismatic and ruthless leader of the Terra Nova settlement. Alex Graves is set to direct the pilot for the series.
PREVIOUS 4PM: Terra Nova executive producer David Fury has departed Fox's upcoming pre-historic drama over creative differences. "He was beloved by the producers on the show, but it just didn't work out," a source close to the series said. Showrunner Brannon Braga, who brought Fury over, will now be the drama's sole writing executive producer as no direct replacement for Fury is planned. Production on Terra Nova, from 20th TV, Chernin Entertainment, Kapital Entertainment and DreamWorks TV, is scheduled to begin in October in Australia. The series, starring Jason O'Mara, will launch in fall 2011 after a preview this coming May.

Allison Miller Cast In Fox Series 'Terra Nova'
Allison Miller has become the second actor after Jason O'Mara cast in Fox's upcoming adventure series Terra Nova. The project, from Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin, follows an ordinary family from 2149 led by Jim Shannon (O'Mara) who are transported back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth where they join Terra Nova, a colony of humans with a second chance to build a civilization. Miller will play Skye.
Terra Nova was originally announced at the upfronts as a midseason replacement, but has been pushed to fall 2011 with a May preview to give more time for the elaborate production and post-production. The series is produced by 20th Century Fox TV, DreamWorks TV, Kapital Entertainment and Chernin Entertainment. Miller, who recently starred on NBC's Kings and in the feature 17 Again, is repped by ICM and Thruline.

Fox Pushes 'Terra Nova' From Midseason To Fall 2011 After May Preview (Like 'Glee')
There's no question this marquee Steven Spielberg- and Peter Chernin-produced adventure drama series is important to Fox. So it's getting the full-on Glee treatment. Terra Nova, originally slated for midseason, will now premiere in fall 2011 after a preview in May. “Terra Nova will be one of the most visually stimulating and dramatically grand series to air on network television,” Fox's entertainment president Kevin Reilly told the TCA today. “It deserves to have an equally unique launch to distinguish that the show is unlike any other, and the spring promotional platform will give us the perfect opportunity to introduce this bold show to audiences.”
Terra Nova follows an ordinary family going back in time to prehistoric Earth as part of an experiment to save the human race. The series, which will feature elaborate sets and visual effects, was never given a firm midseason launch date because of its elaborate production process. It also has been slow in casting its leads, with Jason O’Mara the only actor locked in so far. Terra Nova is produced by 20th Century Fox TV, DreamWorks TV, Kapital Entertainment, and Chernin Entertainment. Spielberg, Chernin, Brannon Braga, David Fury, Jon Cassar, Aaron Kaplan, Katherine Pope, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel serve as executive producers. Alex Graves is set to direct the pilot.

'Terra Nova' Comic-Con panel canceled
The biggest sci-fi production airing on TV next season is going to miss out on the biggest fanboy convention.
20th and producers of Fox's epic prehistoric family action drama "Terra Nova" have scrapped plans for a panel at Comic-Con. Those involved cited some reasons familiar to fans of "Game of Thrones" and "Torchwood," both of which are also missing the event: There's no footage yet for the show and it seems too early to talk about the project when so many aspects are still coming together.
This could help NBC's "The Event" position itself as the Big New Show at the Con (and can't hurt my "Spartacus" panel either, which is scheduled for the same time).

'24' Alum Jon Cassar Joins 'Terra Nova'
It will be an even larger 24 reunion on Fox’s upcoming prehistoric drama Terra Nova, which is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin. Long-time 24 director-executive producer Jon Cassar has joined the 13-episode midseason series as an executive producer and regular series director. He joins fellow 24 executive producers Brandon Braga and David Fury who are executive producing Terra Nova. (Braga also serves as the series’ showrunner). Cassar, who won an Emmy for his directing work on Fox/20th TV/Imagine’s 24 and shared the show’s 2006 best drama series Emmy, will direct multiple episodes of Terra Nova following the pilot episode, which is being helmed by Alex Graves. “This is a huge coup for us,” said Dana Walden, chairman of 20th TV, which is co-producing Terra Nova with DreamWorks TV, Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment and Chernin Entertainment. “Jon is one of the best directors we have ever worked with, and this project is a huge priority for our company.”

In addition to Braga and Fury, Cassar also has an existing relationship with with another Terra Nova executive producer, Spielberg, as he was once attached to direct the DreamWorks feature Motorcade but the project was eventually sidelined because of budgetary issues. Paradigm-repped Cassar is currently directing and executive producing all 8 hours of History’s miniseries The Kennedys, working with another 24 alum, Joel Surnow. The cast of the mini includes Greg Kinnear, Katie Holmes, Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson.

Jason O'Mara to star in Fox's 'Terra Nova'
"Life on Mars" star Jason O'Mara is taking another time travel trip -- this time to Fox's "Terra Nova."
20th Century Fox TV confirmed late Friday that O'Mara is set to star as Jim Shannon, who guides his family as part of a group of settlers who travel back in time to a colony built in prehistoric Earth.
"Terra Nova" exec producers Brannon Braga and David Fury told Daily Variety that O'Mara has been top of mind as they continue to develop the character -- which is why they have actively pursued him in recent weeks for the part.
"Writing the character of Jim Shannon, we've thought of Jason O'Mara as something of an archetype," Braga said. "He has an everyman quality to him, but there's something dangerous underneath."
Fury added that he was impressed by O'Mara's star turn in ABC's short-lived adaptation of "Life on Mars," in which he plays a modern-day cop stuck in the 1970s.
"I've always thought that guy was a star," Fury said "He just hasn't found the right property yet."
O'Mara will next be seen opposite Katherine Heigl in the Lakeshore feature "One for the Money," which he's shooting this summer. His other credits include "Marlowe," "Men In Trees," and "Band of Brothers."
Braga and Fury said they're currently circling several thesps to fill other roles on "Terra Nova," some of which they hope to secure in the coming weeks.
"We've been very deliberate in finding the right people to embody these characters," Fury said. "There's a wealth of talent to pull from internationally. We're looking at all sorts of names, some well-known, some familiar from TV. We're trying to find the right match and chemistry.
Steven Spielberg, Peter Chernin, Braga and Fury exec produce "Terra Nova," about humans from the year 2149 who are forced to find a way to save the human race -- and discover a rip in the time-space continuum that can send them back to pre-human earth.

Jason O'Mara In Talks To Star In 'Terra Nova'
Jason O’Mara may be going back in time again, this time way back. The Life On Mars star is in talks to topline Terra Nova, Fox's midseason series produced by Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin.
Terra Nova, one of the highlights at the Fox upfront presentation, centers on the Shannons, an ordinary family from 2149 when the planet is dying who are transported back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth where they join Terra Nova, a colony of humans with a second chance to build a civilization. O’Mara would play Jim Shannon, a devoted father with a checkered past who guides his family through this new land of limitless beauty, mystery and terror. Alex Graves recently came on board to direct the pilot for the series, which is produced by 20th TV, DreamWorks TV, Kapital Entertainment and Chernin Entertainment.
Terra Nova would reunite O’Mara with 20th TV, which also produced ABC's Life On Mars, an U.S. version of the BBC series. O’Mara was great as the lead, New York City homicide detective Sam Tyler who suddenly found himself inexplicably transported from 2008 to 1973.
O'Mara would be the first actor cast in Terra Nova. There were two offers made to actors for various roles on the project before the upfronts but neither of them got to a talks stage.
