Here’s a bit of news to keep ‘Royal Pains‘ fans jazzed even after the summer finale airs this Thursday at 10/9c: In two strokes of great casting, the USA Network series has invited comedy vets Amy Sedaris and Tom Cavanagh to come out swinging as golfers.

And… end wordplay.

When the hit medical dramedy tees up (oops) its first-ever winter season in January 2011, Sedaris will guest-star as Nan Noonan, Jill’s (Jill Flint) partner for a Hamptons golf tournament.

Cavanagh in turn will play a golf pro named Jack O’Malley.

Cavanagh of course is best known for playing the titular ‘Ed‘ on NBC’s early-2000s comedy. More recently, he and Eric McCormack (’Will & Grace’) two-handed TNT’s short-lived ad-men drama, ‘Trust Me.’

Sedaris’ calling card is Comedy Central’s ‘Strangers With Candy,’ a cult hit that even spawned a movie. (Take that, Bluths.) Her array of colorful TV guest-star credits include ‘Sex and the City,’ ‘The Closer’ (as no, not Kyra Sedgwick’s sister but Fritz’s) and ‘The Middle.’

Other returning guest stars on board for ‘Royal Pains’ winter season include Henry Winkler (as Eddie Lawson), Campbell Scott (Boris), Christine Ebersole (Ms. Newberg) and Patrick Heusinger (Adam).
