‘Mad Men’ Creator Dodges End Date Question

‘Mad Men‘ creator Matt Weiner sure got people talking – and undoubtedly irked AMC – when he said back in April that he saw the highly and increasingly acclaimed 1960s-set series running for six – and only six – seasons.

AMC was quick to undercut the power of Weiner’s words, issuing a statement soon after that argued, “M*A*S*H figured how to stretch the Korean War for more than a decade.”

Still, there’s a lot to be said for setting an end date and writing toward it. (Just ask two guys named Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.) So is that still Weiner’s plan?

“Yes,” the writer/producer told Fancast soon after winning his third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. “And I don’t know what it is yet.”

“We’re all enjoying [doing the show],” he hedged. “So I don’t know what [the end date] is yet.”

‘Mad Men’ is currently airing its fourth season, Sundays at 10/9c.
